The Sages broke apart every verse to show that all aspects were considered before arriving at the final halacha. The average person's problem is they don't know what they don't know, and they see themselves as equals to the greatest Sages, thinking their opinion counts. Rabbi Reuven says, this comes mostly from ego. The more we learn, the more we realize how little we know. Those that follow the Sages will always win.
