What is Pidyon Nefesh? Literally translated as redemption of the soul. Rabbi Reuven says Pidyon Nefesh is a procedure done by a Kabbalist when someone has tried everything regarding following Torah and doing TeShuva but are still having many problems with health, finances, legal issues etc. If a person is still wasting seed or stealing in business most likely the solution is doing TeShuva.
